As a Supplier Technical Engineer at BENTELER Automotive, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of quality throughout our supplier network, contributing to our continued success. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our supplier base.
Responsibilities:
- Assessing and qualifying new suppliers to ensure they meet our stringent quality requirements
- Collaborating with the Purchasing department to manage commodity strategies and select the most suitable suppliers for our needs
- Ensuring that all technical aspects of supplier agreements are resolved before awarding new business
- Overseeing suppliers' adherence to our Development & Launch supplier development and advanced quality planning process through regular detailed reviews with supplier program and plant management
- Resolving process and design problems with suppliers during development and pre-launch phases, utilizing effective problem-solving techniques
- Reporting supplier program and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) status
- Managing supplier part approval (PPAP) process, both initially and with every engineering change
- Establishing quality targets with suppliers, monitoring their performance against these targets, and coordinating supplier quality performance evaluation and workshops
- Conducting audits (Traceability, Process, or Product) in support of BENTELER's targeted objectives.
- Collaborating with focus suppliers to improve quality performance and validate the effectiveness of corrective actions and lead the supplier escalation process.
- Managing "crisis" suppliers through on-site involvement, effective communication, and collaborative, method-based problem-solving
Your Personality:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field
- 3-5 years of technical automotive work experience in supplier quality, program/project management, manufacturing, or engineering
- Proven track record of self-directed work and autonomy
- Strong understanding of AIAG requirements, including APQP, FMEAs, Control Plans, MSA, etc.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to lead with method-based problem-solving
- Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent certification preferred
- Experience with the implementation of lean principles
- Familiarity with IATF 16949:2016 and ISO9001:2015 Quality Standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
- SAP experience desired
- Willingness to travel frequently, up to 70%, which may include weekends and short notice
