BENTELER Automotive in Duncan, SC is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our Team. This position will train on day shift and has the potential to transfer to night shift after the line launches. Must be flexible with schedule during the training process.

 

Job Overview:
Benteler’s Duncan operation is a state-of-the-art chassis assembly facility. The Duncan facility is responsible for supplying multiple major automotive manufacturing facilities in the Southeast, the site will operate on the foundational principles of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), taking precedence the principles of Safety and Lean manufacturing. All associates at the Duncan facility will have accountability to both manufacturing / assembly in addition to the full site operation. The site will run on manufacturing execution systems with highly automated assembly lines and processes.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Duties include the application of one or more craft skills, (i.e., mechanical, electrical, welding, & machining) to install, fabricate, troubleshoot, repair, move & maintain a wide variety of production & related equipment, facilities equipment, buildings, and systems at an advanced level.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains a wide variety of complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic equipment and systems such as motors, conveyor systems, AGVs, PLCs, production machinery and instrumentation equipment.
  • Installs new machinery and equipment and moves machinery and equipment to affect layout changes as required. Work may include operations, such as rigging, moving, erecting, aligning, and making necessary hook-ups, placing equipment in proper operating condition.
  • Performs preventative maintenance activities of all types, including the most critical types requiring extensive dismantling, re-assemble, and critical adjustment, lubrication, and/or calibration.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have strong industrial maintenance background, preferably in production manufacturing.
  • Strong oral and written communication, excellent computer skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize work requirements, and attention to detail are essential.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate, is required to stand for extended periods of time without sitting as well as stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, lifting, or crawling.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to bend or stoop as necessary.
  • This position may require travel.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years’ experience in highly automated production maintenance including craft skills (i.e., mechanical, electrical, welding, fabrication, and machining) to install, fabricate, troubleshoot, repair, move, and maintain a wide variety of production and related equipment, facilities equipment, buildings, and systems at advanced level.
  • Must provide hand tools and toolbox.

Education:

  • Associate’s degree in Mechatronics or related field preferred
  • Certifications may be considered in lieu of degree.

 

Pay: $24.00 - $32.00 per hour

This position will be dedicated to the launch of G65. This will require flexibility in schedules as customer orders will come in at various times.

Upon conclusion of the launch, these positions will continue to support G65 mass production
