Core Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for process manufacturing, field instrumentation, control system installation and implementation expertise in all of the project phases: Requirements documentation, detailed design generation, implementation, system integration, testing and on-site startup. Plans and coordinates technical design and engineering implementation of project work.
  • Optimizing the production system during the shift;
  • Troubleshooting, advising and eliminating any and all related issues while on duty;
  • Assist in design, integration and implementation of process control solutions for the Hot rolling mill or Finishing Mill;
  • Participate in down day planning for outages, and special projects;
  • Participate in 5S, Lean MFG and any other continuous improvement activities;
  • Participate in “Root Cause Analysis” meetings to determine and rectify problematic issues in the process;
  • Perform MFMEA for repetitive issues.
  • Participate in all safety activities to meet or exceed organizational goals and expectations;
  • Train operators and engineers on control systems;
  • Install, test, and start-up control systems on-site;
  • Understand P&IDs and loop descriptions for various processes and equipment;
  • Specify and recommend purchase of process instrumentation, drives and other electrical components;
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned;
  • performance reviews to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution

 

Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required, Post-secondary diploma or degree in a technical automation field is preferred but not required;
  • Thorough knowledge of process instrumentation and control systems;
  • Candidate must be fluent with data acquisition systems such as IBA;
  • Siemens experience is preferred;
  • Candidate must have knowledge of and familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC);
  • Experience designing and programming control systems with an emphasis on PLC and HMI systems;
  • Ability to troubleshoot control systems from the field element up through operator interfaces and databases;
  • Experience with industrial power systems is a must;
  • Excellent planning, communication, and organizational skills;
  • Ability to organize and explain complex data in a clear manner;
  • Detail oriented with proven analytical, problem identification and resolution skills;
  • Ability to work in a team oriented atmosphere;
  • Show strong safety and awareness skills;
  • Demonstrated capability of results through people, technology, and process;
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisors, managers, and coworkers;
  • SAP and general computer knowledge is preferred;
  • Seamless pipe mill experience is a huge plus!
  • Must be proficient in the use of all MS office products.  Specifically the use of MS Excel as an analysis tool.
