As an Engineer (m/f/d) Autonomy V&V Test , you will focus on the systematic Verification of autonomous driving systems by executing requirements-based testing across Software-in-the-Loop (SiL), Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL), and Vehicle-in-the-Loop (ViL) platforms. This role is critical for ensuring that system components meet defined specifications and program requirements. You will design, execute, and analyze detailed test cases to verify system performance, functionality, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements-Based Testing Across Test Platforms:
- Develop and execute test cases derived from detailed requirements, ensuring traceability and coverage for all functional, safety, and performance specifications.
- Systematically verify system components (e.g., perception, planning, and control) against defined acceptance criteria, ensuring compliance with program and safety standards.
- Utilize test platforms (such as SiL, HiL, and ViL) to simulate, execute, and validate test cases in a controlled and repeatable manner.
- Test Execution and Coordination:
- Define and maintain a structured test execution framework across simulation, hardware, and on-vehicle environments.
- Plan and orchestrate test activities, ensuring alignment with program milestones and development cycles.
- Set up and configure test environments, including software, hardware, and vehicle-level setups, to meet test objectives.
- Issue Identification and Root Cause Analysis:
- Analyze test failures to identify deviations from requirements, perform root cause analysis, and document findings in detailed issue reports.
- Collaborate closely with suppliers, software and hardware teams to provide actionable feedback and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
- Establish efficient feedback loops to continuously refine test cases and methodologies.
- Test Quality and Coverage:
- Ensure the quality, reliability, and completeness of test cases, scenarios, and evaluation criteria across all testing platforms (SiL, HiL, ViL).
- Develop automated test scripts to improve efficiency, repeatability, and scalability of verification processes.
- Monitor and track test coverage against system requirements to identify and close gaps in verification.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Perform systematic analysis of test results to validate system behavior against expected outcomes.
- Generate detailed test reports, highlighting verification progress, gaps, and potential risks.
- Track metrics such as requirement coverage, pass rates, and defect density to monitor V&V progress and identify improvement opportunities.
Desired Skills
- Technical Expertise in V&V:
- Strong understanding of Verification methodologies and requirements-based testing processes for autonomous systems.
- Experience with SiL, HiL, and ViL testing platforms, ensuring seamless integration across all stages of the V&V process.
- Familiarity with autonomy technologies such as sensors (LiDAR, radar, cameras), perception, motion planning, and control systems.
- Programming and Automation:
- Proficiency in Python and/or C++ for test case automation, data analysis, and scenario generation such as OpenSCENARIO and OpenDRIVE.
- Experience with simulation platforms (e.g., CARLA, VTD, or similar).
- Familiarity with scripting and automation frameworks tailored to V&V processes.
- Data Analysis and Debugging:
- Strong analytical skills for debugging and analyzing test results across software, hardware, and vehicle-level tests.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Excellent communication and organizational skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to articulate test results, technical risks, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in requirements-based testing for autonomous systems or related domains.
- Hands-on experience with SiL, HiL, and ViL platforms for system and component verification.
- Proven expertise in developing, executing, and managing structured test cases with clear traceability to requirements.
- Familiarity with Test Management Tools (e.g., Jira, Zephyr, TestRail) or Requirements Management Tools (e.g., DOORS, Polarion).
