  • Anti-Trust & Competition Law: Monitoring regional enforcement practices, contact person for assessments of the general regional context.
  • Anti-Corruption: Advisory on gifts & hospitality and business partner integrity check.
  • Export Control: Knowledge of the Export Control Officers and their tasks, case-specific support of export control reviews.


Your opportunity


  • Conduct Compliance Risk Analysis: Performance of Compliance Risk Analyses at the assigned divisions in the respective region; Development of proposals for reviewing business processes (proactively and based on actual cases).
  • Implement BENTELER Corporate Philosophy and Code of Conduct (CoC) and Compliance Policy Framework: Contact person for all questions relating to the CoC; Answering specific questions in alignment with the Divisional Compliance Officers (DCO) of the respective divisions; Development of proposals for regional adaptations and continuous development.
  • Execute Trainings: Development, execution of and support for targeted compliance trainings in coordination with DCOs of the respective divisions and HR; Composition and follow-up of eLearning participants´ circles; Development of proposals for regional adaptations and continuous development of local training initiatives.
  • Develop Communication Measures: Development, execution of and support for continued internal compliance communication measures in the respective region. That includes amongst others “Tone from the Top” from the regional management and active communication to stakeholders, to be aligned with DCOs of the respective divisions. Every external communication to be aligned also with the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and Corporate Communications.
  • Act as Trusted Advisory: Personal and pro-active advisory for management and employees in routine business; on specific transactions and projects in alignment with DCOs of the respective divisions.
  • Integrate Compliance into Processes, e.g.: Gifts and Hospitality: Advisory (initially to be aligned with DCOs of the respective divisions) and decision proposals for management and employees; Donation and Sponsoring: Advisory (initially to be aligned with DCOs of the respective divisions and Corporate Communications) according to the Group Guideline (Policy) Donation & Sponsoring; Integrity Checks and Reviews in coordination with DCO BAT, BST: Monitoring the execution of integrity checks on regional business partners; on JV-partners and major projects, led by / to be aligned with DCO BAT, BST.
  • Coordinate local Case Tracking and support Internal Investigations:  Support the execution of Internal Investigations on-site in alignment with DCOs; Recommendation of disciplinary sanctions in alignment with DCOs and reporting of sanctions taken by local HR and local management; Monitoring and report to DCOs whether identified weaknesses in the business processes will be eliminated.
  • Ensures Reporting: Reporting according to DCO Report requirements; Keeping the Case Tracking list up-to-date and reporting it to DCOs; monitoring of remediation activities in the region; Join Compliance Team Meetings.
  • Act as Dawn Raid Coordinator upon extra nomination.


Your personality


  • Minimum of three-five years of direct Compliance experience; legal experience is a plus.
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related regulatory field.
  • Deep insight in the BENTELER Americas region (USA, Mexico, Brazil, South Africa), knowledge of applicable laws, compliance policies and specific industry codices.
  • Practical know-how in planning, executing and reporting on interdisciplinary projects.
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art communication, training and moderation techniques.
  • Licensed to practice law in at least one country of BENTELER Americas region preferred.
  • Experience and comfort working in a matrixed organization across functions.
  • Fluent in English; additional language skills in Spanish and/or Brazilian Portuguese language are a plus.
