Core Responsibilities:

  • Assist the EHS Manager in leading all Environment Health and Safety (EHS) processes in order to provide a safe workplace that protects and enhances the well-being of employees, guests, and outside contractors in order to comply with all governmental regulations.
  • Assures compliance with state and federal regulations in addition to company policies and procedures.
  • Consults, trains, directs, develops and implements safety programs and safety committees to promote overall health and safety and to meet OSHA regulations.
  • Investigates work related accidents and injuries and establishes appropriate behavior modifications to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Investigates potential safety hazards to eliminate risks of workplace injury and environmental hazards to mitigate the risk of pollution to the environment.
  • Provides education, policies, and procedures to minimize and eliminate work related accidents.
  • Works with EHS Manager and other personnel to ensure compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Environmental Quality.
  • Establishes and coordinates an effective security process to protect all associates, property and visitors.
  • Maintains all required OSHA, EPA, DEQ, and other compliance related reports and paperwork- such as OSHA logs, environmental permit reports, SDS (Safety Data Sheet) information.
  • Creates, maintains, and monitors accident/incident/near miss/property damage statistics and reports to identify opportunity for improvement, risk areas/equipment and injury trends.                                                                        
  • Actively assists with safety, environmental, fire prevention, and housekeeping audits/gemba walks.                                                                                                                                                    
  • Evaluates new equipment and processes and identifies areas of improvement by means of risk assessment methodology.    
  • Coordinates the training of subcontractors by means of training, enforcing rules, auditing, tracking compliance, etc.                                                                                 
  • Assists in monitoring air and noise levels to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Works along with multiple departments to ensure all waste management paperwork and the subsequent reporting to government entities is handled properly and efficiently.
  • Work with EHS Manager and co-workers to ensure the local and corporate prevention programs expands to every employee.

 

Job Requirements:

  • BA/BS Occupational Safety or related field – or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 5-10 year’s experience preferred with all risk control issues such as employee health, safety, fire protection and environmental protection, preferably in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to analyze regulatory and non-regulatory standards to determine best practices.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies preferred,
  • Experience with medical procedures, protocols, processes, etc.
  • OSHA Recordkeeping Requirements Knowledge and Safety Metric Calculations
  • ASP, CSP, CHMM, EMT, or equivalent professional credential preferred
  • SAP knowledge Preferred/Microsoft Office Suite Required.
