Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the following commodities:
  • Billet contract and procurement management (approx. $ 250-300 Mio) and development of second supplier
  • Scrap commodity management (approx. $ 16 Mio)
  • Logistics commodity management (approx. $ 23 Mio)
  • Processors – quenching & tempering, threading and couplings (approx. $ 8 Mio)
  • Auxiliaries commodity management (approx. $ 7 Mio)
  • Line reporting to Vice-President Procurment and functional reporting to Plant Manager Shreveport
  • Define and align commodity strategies with German Commodity Buyers/Managers and VP Procurement
  • Execute on measures formulated on basis of commodity strategy and tactics and oversee their implementation; contributes to the development of the strategy and tactical employment;
  • Manage directly Project Buyer and in coordination with Procurement Manager Shreveport Procurement Organization
  • Is the direct procurement contact for the plant manager, Houston sales organization, manufacturing, logistics, engineering and maintenance department for these commodities and will communicate with these internal interfaces on purchasing activities and execution of required alignments
  • Negotiate contracts, manage and develop suppliers within the commodity
  • Monitor KPIs for the commodities and suppliers
  • Communicate regular supplier evaluations, organize supplier evaluation meetings and assist during supplier audits for T&E suppliers.
  • Support in claims for suppliers, evaluate containment and preventives actions and push supplier development

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Mechanical Engineering or related field, advanced education preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in similar position; occasional travel required (approx. 20%)
  • 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing industry, preferably steel, tooling or metal components
  • SAP & general computer knowledge required.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel/PowerPoint/Word.
  • Excellent planning, organizational and communication skills; must have the ability to organize, present and explain complex data in a clear manner to both internal and external customers.
  • Detail oriented with proven analytical, problem identification and resolution skills.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented atmosphere with team building experience; ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisors, coworkers, and management.
